Spectacle : Alice et Violette
Alice Milliat and Violette Morris: the heroines of modern-day sportswomen. At a time when sport was exclusively for men, when Baron Coubertin modernised the Olympic Games but made sexist statements that are unheard of today ("... women's sport is uninteresting, unattractive and incorrect"!!!!), Alice Milliat (1884-1957) and Violette Morris (1893-1944) are the two emblematic figures who fought for women's access to sporting competitions, and who are interviewed by Brigitte Kernel ("a key figure" - or rather "a voice" on the radio - on France Inter nights) at her microphone, in this recording studio that she haunted for so long. Sylvia Roux skilfully portrays these two women, so different but with common goals, interviewed by disconcerting modern means. We are transported back to the beginning of the 20th century, which is not so long ago, and the comparison of eras shows us that battles are not always in vain.
