Domaine de Bel-Air
Welcome to the DOMAINE DE BEL AIR
History and renewal
In Tannay, winegrowing is an ancient activity that is ALWAYS being renewed.
The Domaine de Bel Air in VILLIERS-SUR-YONNE consists of ten hectares of vines planted in a lyre shape. The Domaine de Bel Air is a key player in the "Tannay wine revival", so let me tell you all about it...
I took over Domaine de Bel Air in 2022 with 10 hectares of vines. My vineyards are spread over two geographical areas: Bel Air in Villiers-sur-Yonne and Château Baron near Brinon-sur-Beuvron. These two vineyards are unique in that they are planted in a lyre shape (V-shaped trellising). This is the only organic estate in the Tannay appellation. Since 2022, the part of Brinon-sur-Beuvron has been undergoing organic conversion to follow in the footsteps of Bel Air.
Why Lyre vine training?
Invented by Alain Carbonneau of the INRA, this type of vine training gives the bunches better exposure and a larger leaf area than traditional vines. The improved photosynthetic activity means that the bunches ripen more quickly. This method lends itself very well to high temperatures and avoids burning the grapes.
I only use natural organic fertilisers (manure, compost) to respect the environment and to improve the condition of my soil and vines.
The good care given to my vines produces authentic wines with good fruitiness and freshness.
