Château de l'Hestrange
With a total surface area of 28 hectares, it comprises 10 hectares of vineyards in the Beaujolais Villages appellation, with the remainder occupied by meadows, moorland and woodland. The Gamay with white juice is planted on granitic soil with a sandy composition, which is perfect for good drainage. Situated at an altitude of between 450 and 550 metres on steep, south-east-facing slopes, the vines benefit from an exceptional microclimate in late summer, with warm days and cool nights, ideal conditions for good ripening of the grapes.
The average age of the vines is 45 years. The vines are pruned using the traditional gobelet method.
In 2000, Laurent decided to plant Chardonnay on the east-facing slopes. Today, the estate has 1.8 hectares of white grapes producing 17,000 bottles of Bourgogne Chardonnay.
This estate, which is on a human scale, employs one farm worker. The vines are worked by hand (pruning, harvesting, etc.). The use of natural fertilisers, weedkillers and treatments against vine diseases is strictly adapted to needs, to ensure greater respect for the environment and the consumer.
